Danny CoteX-Ray Lead

    Length of service: 5 years

What area of Doncasters do you work in?
I have been working here at Doncasters New England in the X-Ray Department since February 2014. I started with no prior X-Ray experience except having a background in inspection with the City of Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office for 10 years. Through in-house training I have worked my way up to the X-Ray Lead position.

What does a typical day working here look like for you?
Today my typical work day consist of managing all the X-Ray Technicians by tracking shots and parts worked by each shooter daily and graphing that information for upper management to review. I manage the parts to be shot each day by referencing the daily shipping log to ensure the proper parts are being worked. I also put together parts to be shipped to outside vendors and to our sister company at Southern Tool, pallet them and have them shipped. I also receive the parts back into the company when they return and disposition them to where they need to go. I also oversee the on the job training for all new Technicians.

    What’s been your proudest moment?
I am the type of person who takes pride in what ever job I am given, and will work to the best of my ability to complete the task and always thrive to excel to the next level.

    Please describe your work/life balance?
Working here at Doncasters has made home life also better as this company works with its employees whenever any issues at home might arise, whether its leaving early or arriving late due to home emergencies.

What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career? / start an apprenticeship?
If I had to give any advice to anyone wishing to employ here at Doncasters, it would be to have patience in learning the position being hired for, and never fear about talking to anyone about any type of improvements to the way we operate in the department, that could better the way we operate.

The leadership and management here at Doncasters have changed since I started in 2014. I feel that the change was definitely a good change and welcomed by all here at Doncasters. The open-door policy offered by all upper management personnel does wonders to keep moral high and production moving in an upward momentum.

I also find that working with others that are always smiling and pleasant is breath of fresh air as opposed to other companies I have worked for.
