August 2023 – Work has begun on a multi-million dollar investment that will double our capability at Doncasters Precision Casting of Groton.
Ground has now been broken on the new extension, which will deliver improved parts flow and safety, reduced environmental impact and lead times, and an increased capacity overall that allows the business to invest in advanced technology and local talent in the future.
With post-covid orders from commercial airlines higher than predicted, the new extension will double capacity of operations at the Connecticut site.
Jason Mays, Doncasters President – Americas, said: “As passenger flying hours, in most global markets, are now at or above pre-pandemic levels, the demand on aircraft building continues to increase. The ability of airframers to support this demand is currently being paced by parts manufacturing capacity.
“Doncasters is addressing this by adding capacity across our global footprint, including this extensive Groton development. This will ensure we meet aerospace industry demand, offering predictable and consistent service to OEMs.”
The line will commence production in 2023, ramping up to full operating capacity in 2025.
