21 June 2021, Killamarsh, Derbyshire, UK – Doncasters Group, a leading manufacturer of high-precision alloy components and superalloys for performance critical applications, has today announced a £multi-million investment at its superalloys manufacturing plant in the UK.

Ross & Catherall, based in Killamarsh, near Sheffield, England, is a specialist vacuum melting company producing highly specialised nickel and cobalt-based superalloys for the investment casting in aerospace, power generation, automotive and medical industries.

As part of the £100m capital investment programme announced by Doncasters Group in January 2021, the Ross & Catherall facility will benefit from a c£7m investment to add a new 5,000kg capacity Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnace.

Fully operational in 2023, the new furnace will further enhance the range of melting and technical capabilities, allowing its customers to benefit from the very latest in VIM technology.

Jason Griffiths, General Manager of Ross & Catherall said: “This is a significant new investment and a great boost for the facility.

“By introducing the very latest in VIM technology we will enhance and expand on our product range, offering our customers the very latest in production capability and efficiencies.”
