Role: HR Service Delivery Advisor
Length of service: 3 years
What area of Doncasters do you work in?
I work in the Human Resources Department. I have held other positions within Doncasters including a HR Assistant role at one of our midland sites.
What does a typical day working here look like for you?
A typical day changes for me on a frequent basis. With my role I am lucky enough to travel to various sites even though my ‘base’ site is in Droitwich therefore my working day changes however I try to keep to the general rule of beginning work at approximately 07:45 and I finish the day between 16:30 and 17:00 (dependent on location, meetings, etc!).
What’s an interesting fact about yourself?
I have a Cocker Spaniel called Coco, who loves to take all my time and attention when I return from work!
What’s been your proudest moment?
My proudest achievement is my progression within Doncasters. The scope of my roles have changed from site, to global to regional which therefore has impacted the types of work I have been involved in. This is something I feel very proud of.
What been your greatest learning experience?
To be truly global, you need to pull on your team! I think we are all guilty of trying to do it all and get things done without bothering someone else for help… but actually, working as a team and getting different perspectives and experiences are crucial!
What advice would you give to others trying to develop their career? / start an apprenticeship?
Do not be scared to ask for help! At Doncasters, I have met an incredible amount of people who are willing to help and support. We were all there once… learning new things, going into a project or piece of work that we were unsure of, but it is so important to ask for help and support because we are a team who wants to see others succeed. I would also advise that, when you are ready and had a discussion with your manager, look at potential roles you would like to aspire to! Look at getting the experience and tools in place so you can begin to build your own portfolio.
