Doncasters is recognised as a leading manufacturer of vacuum melted superalloys for industrial gas turbine applications. From our two superalloys facilities, Ross & Catherall in the UK and Certified Alloy Products Inc. (CAPI) in the USA, we offer a wide range of vacuum induction melting (VIM), vacuum induction degassing pouring (VIDP) and air induction melting (AIM) capabilities. Vacuum furnace sizes range in capacity from 500 kg (1,100 lb) to 8000 kg (8.8 tons).
Superalloys produced typically contain nickel with additions of (among other things) cobalt, chromium, aluminium, titanium, molybdenum, niobium, tungsten and tantalum. Included in Doncasters’ capabilities are alloys specifically designed for directional solidification and single crystal applications.
Superalloys find widespread application in gas turbines for industrial power generation applications, where they are used to produce blades and guide vanes designed to operate under the most demanding conditions.
