Maintenance Technician- Continental Shifts

Working on a continental shift pattern, you will be a ‘hands-on’ Maintenance Technician with the ability to apply your previous Engineering background and experience to achieve the very highest levels of plant maintenance on a wide variety of Plant, Equipment and Facilities. You will work both individually and as part of a friendly organised team in fast moving / production environment

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carrying out hands-on repairs in a safe and conscientious manner to all aspects of the production equipment

Prioritise workload to sustain output

Carrying out proactive maintenance and facility activity reporting back on any abnormalities and possible improvements

Proactively Determine Faults and where required contact OEMS for technical support to determine route cause and resolution actions

Review issues, obtain quotes and submit to supervision for order processing

Carry out Planned Maintenance Tasks and input to CMMS

Utilise the CMMS as required by the Business

Communicating effectively with a range of groups and individuals at all levels

To develop themselves to a professional standard, and a sound technical understanding of the process and plant employed.

To ensure that all company policies and procedures are complied with

Ensure the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment for all staff

Any other duties that may be reasonably required by the business.

HEALTH & SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL

Assist effective implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE)  management systems within any Business Improvement; Continuous Improvement and Special Project activities across DPC – D.

Support HSE policy implementation, objectives, targets and management programmes.

Ensure that any procurement of new plant, equipment, process or materials supplied meet all legal obligations and internal standards.

Liaise with the HSE team for specific guidance on variation the current and existing standard elements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards and certification.

Ensure that that all associated HSE documentation including risk assessments, safe systems of work, method statements, change management documentation (PESHR) and mandatory and statutory records are carried out where required.

Ensure that all contracts and sub-contractors are proven competent and capable of carrying out their tasks safely using prescribed Safe Systems of Work identified through the use of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Support and promote a Health & Safety culture by complying with all aspects of HSE policy and procedures including ensuring that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements are adhered to at all times.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Carrying out maintenance tasks working from cradle to grave to completion

Able to work individually or as part of a team

Computer / PC Literacy

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Experience with Permit to Work systems and LOTO procedures

Time Served, apprentice trained multiskilled Engineer

Multi skilled with Electrical/Mechanical bias, practically and theoretically

Fault Finding and rectification of Mechanical and Electrical Plant and equipment

Previous experience of working in a production environment

Proven knowledge of equipment such as Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Drives, Temperature controls & Vacuum Technology & injection moulding.

Knowledge of machinery such as injection moulding machines, gas Furnaces, Vacuum furnaces, Robots, sand blasters & precision tools.

Cranes and slinging experience

FLT and MEWP licence or experience

Confined space and working at height appreciation

Grinding wheel regulations

Basic welding skills

CNC & PLC Fault Finding / Repair experience (Mitsubishi & Siemens desirable)

 

PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or equivalent

Recognised qualification in an Engineering/maintenance discipline
