A Final Polisher’s primary role will be to rectify small defects which have been identified on the metal casts, in line with the method of manufacture (MoM) to meet customer specifications.
Visually inspect parts and use precision techniques to polish out small defects to ensure product meets customer specifications.
Use abrasive materials and air tools.
Use gauges and fixtures to determine if alterations made are within acceptable boundaries.
Plan workload to achieve required delivery expectations whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail and communicate any issues to the Line Manager. Complete the required computer bookings and hour by hour planning sheet.
Work safely, efficiently and accurately to minimise waste.
Use quality measures to ensure work produced consistently meets high work standards.
Maintain a safe working environment by following procedures and complying with current regulations.
Perform daily housekeeping tasks to provide a safe, clean and orderly workplace
Any other duties that may be reasonably required.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Able to read computerised technical specifications and interpret detailed tolerances.
Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Can consistently maintain high quality working standards.
Capable of a high level of concentration and focus.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Previous precision polishing experience on metallic products.
Experience using air tools to preform precision linishing techniques.
Previous experience of working within casting, automotive, steel manufacturing or aeronautical industries.
Knowledge of gas turbine blades.
GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or equivalent
Capable of standing for long periods of time.
The work can be heavy in nature, therefore a good general level of fitness is required.
