Position Summary

Under close supervision, perform all required operations to straighten a variety of castings to close tolerances where normal work methods are employed.

Key Responsibilties

Work from shop travelers and customer specifications to straighten simple parts to casting requirements using less complex fixtures to straighten. Secure fixtures, surface plates and other hand or tool equipment as necessary to perform specific operations.
Hot sizing/ straightening is performed, working with high heat. Must be able to follow directions as work as a team member. Must comply to all procedures, safety procedures, practices and policies and be competent in position. Must wear all required safety PPE at all times as required for task at hand and job position.
Use mallets, vises, kick-presses and other hand and bench tools to flatten, straighten, adjust angles, and perform other operations as required to bring part within acceptable limits. Check work with dial indicators, dimensions and inter-relationships and with a high demand for flatness, parallelism and angularity of features. Exercise care in operation and handling to avoid surface damage, cracking or excessive distortion.
Perform either similar or associated duties as required.
Detect and report defective parts or unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow safety regulations.
Perform a variety of other tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned by supervisor.
